Dr Manoj K Goel is the Principal Director and Head, Department of Pulmonology, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine at Fortis Memorial Research Institute, Gurugram. He is MBBS and MD from King George’s Medical College, Lucknow. He is trained in Interventional Pulmonology at University of Lille, France; Critical Care at Erasme University Hospital, Brussels, Belgium; Sleep Medicine at Prince Royal Alfred Hospital, Sydney and EBUS Bronchoscopy at Royal Brisbane and Women’s Hospital, Australia. He is a fellow of National College of Chest Physicians, Fellow of Indian Society of Critical Care, Fellow of Indian Sleep Disorders Association and Fellow of Indian Association of Bronchology.
He is member of European Respiratory Society and American College of Chest Physician. Dr Goel is amongst the firsts and is a pioneer in pulmonary interventions, video bronchoscopy, sleep medicine, noninvasive ventilation and medical thoracoscopy in India. Dr Goel is the member and co-author of several Indian Guidelines on various pulmonary practices such as Diagnostic Bronchoscopy, Medical Thoracoscopy, EBUS Bronchoscopy, and Sleep Practices during COVID-19 Pandemic. Dr Goel is expert in managing challenging and difficult lung diseases such as asthma, COPD, lung fibrosis, allergic respiratory disorders, pleural effusion, resistant and life-threatening lung infections.
Dr Goel is also expert in treating critically ill patients with acute and chronic respiratory failure and multisystem disorders affecting the lungs. Dr Goel is proficient in advanced Bronchoscopic Procedures and Pulmonary Interventions such as EBUS, Radial EBUS guided lung biopsy, Cryotechnique, Electrosurgical removal of bronchial tumors and airway stenting. Dr Goel is adept in thoracoscopic interventions for diagnosis and treatment of pleural diseases. Dr Goel also has expertise in early detection of smoking related respiratory diseases and sleep disorders. Dr Goel has received several prestigious awards such as Lifetime Achievement Award 2022 by Indian Chest Society and National College of Chest Physicians, Times Healthcare Achievers Legend Award 2017 by the Jury of Times of India, ISCCM Chairman Award 2017, Rotary Appreciation awards in 2010 & 2012 and NCCP India Young Scientist Award (2005) for research in Pulmonary Interventions. For his contribution to Respiratory Medicine and Bronchoscopic procedures, Dr Goel has been conferred Oration Awards by the National Colleges of Chest Physicians and Indian Association of Bronchology in 2018 and 2020. He has also featured in BETTER INDIA during COVID Pandemic. Dr Goel has organised several conferences, workshops and CMEs. He was the Organizing Secretary, NAPCON 2023 Delhi, the 25th Golden Jubilee National Conference on Pulmonary Diseases. He has been Principal Adviser and Organizing Chairman in several National and State Conferences. Dr Goel is a renowned academician. He has authored a book “Bronchoscopy in ICU” available on Amazon worldwide. He has more than 50 research publications in national and international journals including Lancet and New England Journal of Medicine. He started Training Program on Bronchoscopy In ICU for Intensivists in India since 2009. Dr Goel has delivered over 1000 Guest Lectures in various conferences and training programs including more than 20 international assignments.
